Gaskets are critical components of many
products. They can be installed in an incredible variety of
different environment thus they can come in a wide variety of
sizes, shapes and above all they can be made of several materials.
The high variety of different materials that
can be used to manufacture gaskets combined with the strict
technical constraints that often are associated to them can be a
real challenge for the cutting.
Till now no other cutting
systems producer has managed to project a cutting table really
suitable for the cutting of materials commonly used
in the gaskets industry.
Atom matured a huge experience in cutting
hard materials, such as leather for footwear soles, this experience has been
turned into our cutting tables lines. Their strong framework and resistant
cutting head make them the ideal choice to cut even the hardest gaskets. we have
tens of satisfied customers, most of them use our machines for 16 hours each day
and they know that Atom reliability allows them to do it.
Moreover we worked hard to develop
an advanced automatic nesting system able to support the typical needs of
gaskets cutting: we support any geometry for shapes and materials, we are
able to put smaller shapes in the "holes" of the bigger ones and it is
possible to use scraps of previous cuttings (even if their shape is not
rectangular) to make further nestings and cuttings, saving thus material.
Atom machines are widely used in this
industry, and they cut gaskets in almost every industry you can imagine. Whether
you cut the sturdy tanged graphite or classical rubber with Atom cutting systems
you can have speed and precision never seen before. Our customer currently cut
also: asbestos free materials of any thickness, paper, cork, hardened PTFE
(Teflon) aluminium, copper, and many more, used in a growing number of
industries, among them: cars, motor-bikes, mechanical constructions, petroleum
industry, electronics, chemicals plants, cocks and counting...
For gaskets cutting we suggest:
Oscillating-knife machines: are the most common
choice to deal with small and medium production runs and several
different shapes. They are a flexible and convenient solution able
to support most of the gaskets cutting needs. They can cut even
the hardest materials, such as tanged graphite, thick
asbestos-free, hardened PTFE, aluminium and copper. They can cut
as well materials which are difficult to cut with the waterjet
like composites and paper.
Traditional presses:
the most common choice when dealing with a few different shapes to
be produced regularly. For some materials they are the choice that
minimizes the cutting cost with a reasonable investment.
CNC presses: high throughput is the
name of these machines, automatic cutting delivers high speed and reduced need
of operator assistance, automatic nesting delivers material savings and ability
to precisely estimate costs and production times.
Moving beam presses: they are
especially useful when cutting using big dies or multiple-shape dies, in this
case their throughput is unbeatable. They are often used to cut flanges or
gaskets with many holes, such as the ones for cylinder heads.
Waterjet machines are suggested mainly
when you need high speed, high precision and you have to cut high
quantities of gaskets. It is possible to equip the machines with
multiple cutting heads to multiply the throughput of the cutting,
as well as cut multiple layers of material at the same time.
It is possible to use our automatic roll feeder
with the moving beam and cnc presses. This device is wheel-mounted
to allow easy relocation in the production premises, moreover
material loading is very fast thanks to its self centring device.
This tool comes also in a special version with automatic material
unrolling, extremely useful for those materials that must not
bear any tension during the feeding and cutting process.
