The footwear industry is a backbone of Atom
history.
Atom was founded more than 60 years ago in the heart of
the Vigevano footwear industrial district, with the aim to produce machines to
support this industry. Continuous developments and improvements of the cutting
systems make them suitable to be used in a growing number of industries to cut
hundred of different materials.
Atom support for the footwear industry is still strong, we
now offer a complete lineup to meet the requirement of a modern footwear maker
in several steps of the production: our cutting systems, splitting, folding and
skiving machines deliver the reliability, performance, technical assistance and
durability that you can expect from Atom brand.
Moreover Atom is actively involved in the EUROShoE
project, whose aim is the mass customization of the shoes at competitive prices.
Mass customization means the ability to deliver to each customer a pair of shoes
built upon the actual measures of the feet, using materials, styles and colors
chosen by the customer. This is the ultimate proof of the flexibility of Atom
cutting systems: even the production of unique parts for each shoe can be
quickly and economically done.
Atom machines can be conveniently used to produce a wide
range of footwear types: from elegant ones to safety shoes, as well as jogger
shoes, trekking shoes, sneaker shoes, ski boots, elegant boots, sandals,
decollete shoes, biker shoes, free climbing shoes, sleepers and many more.
Atom provides a wide range of machines to support both the
cutting (with advanced automatic nesting features) and other stages of the
footwear production. Whether you produce all the components of the shoes (soles,
tuopuffs, counters) or just some of them you can find the right machines to
handle your job.
- Oscillating
knife cutting tables;
- Full beam, travelling head and swing arm presses;
- folding
machines;
- skiving machines;
- splitting
machines;
- seam pressing and taping machines;
- topline
taping machines;
Oscillating knife machines
provide an affordable and very flexible approach to the automatic cutting.
Speed, reliability, low running costs, and excellent software support to handle
the layouts are the winning points of these solutions.
Presses come in a wide
variety of models, from the ones suitable to support the job of an experienced
cutter that decides the exact position of each die to machines that handle fully
automatically material loading, cutting and cut pieces unloading at lightening
fast speed.
Atom can ship the cutting machines with an automatic
nesting software suite that can be used in several different ways:
- interactive nesting on the cutting table;
- off-line nesting, that is calculated before the
material is deployed on the cutting table;
- Internet-based nesting: Atom is proud to propose
this solution to his customers. This innovative system allows the user to manage
and monitor the nesting and cutting process from any web-connected PC, using
just the browser it is possible to access to all the functions commonly offered
by traditional nesting suites. An additional benefit of this model is that the
customer is charged on pay-per-use basis so there are no initial investment in
software licenses and data is available everywhere there is an Internet
connection, of course protected by a reliable system of passwords and access
rights.
Automatic nesting allows savings of time and materials,
higher automation in cutting orders management and can be used even by
non-specialised operators. The nesting results are not operator-dependant any
more, therefore the workforce can be organized in a more flexible way.
We do not believe in the "one size fits all" philosophy as
far as nesting is concerned, so our algorithms are optimized accordingly with
the needs of different industries and material kinds. You can read more about
our nesting software here, or read a full presentation of CUTWEB, the web-based
automatic nesting service here.
As regards footwear our nesting system can be configured
to meet different requirements:
- Maximize the yield on each hide, regardless of what
parts are put on it (but respecting constraints tied to each kind of shape)
- Keep all the parts composing a pair of shoes on the
same hide
- Keep all the parts composing a pair of shoes as
near as possible on the same hide
We developed sophisticated algorithms that can take into
account the "direction" of the hide, the allowed rotation for each type of part
and many more production constraints that we learned from our customers in many
years of continuous development.
You can read more about Atom nesting software on this page, for a
