The long experience cumulated in the automatic cutting
industry through hundreds of installed machines and the steady dialog with our
customers helped us in creating reliable, safe, user friendly and performing
products.
In a few days an operator can create the work programs and
get from the machine excellent results, both in terms of productivity and of
material savings. Our machines are designed to work 24 ours a day and the
quality of the components used enables us to grant that they are suitable to
bear this workload.
They are cutting "robots", granting power, precision
and speed. The main technological components are:
-
Automatic nesting software, available in several
versions optimized for several industries and materials;
-
CNC module with an advanced user interface,
designed for ergonomics, efficiency and ease of use;
-
high performances cnc cutting presses;
-
automatic material feeding.
By combining different technological modules it is
possible to manufacture both specialized and universal cutting modules.
These cutting systems are extremely efficient. The
sturdy framework and the quality of mechanical components allow cutting
speeds beyond 110 punches per minute, with a precision of a few tenth of
millimetre, which enables to keep parts as near as possible, increasing
thus material savings.
The cutting power up to 50 ton that is kept
steady even for extremely long production runs enables these machines to
cut hard materials of high thickness, in single or multiple layers and
use multiple dies or dies with long blade development.
The software allows to calculate with a considerable
precision for each job material consumption and time required (thus labour cost)
in order to make accurate simulations of the cutting cost, enabling better
production planning and more precise offers to customers.
Using these cutting systems you can achieve considerable
costs savings.
-
Material savings: the quality of design and
components allows extreme precision in positioning, minimizing thus the
distance between cut pieces. The automatic nesting software calculates
automatically optimal layouts to take advantage of the allowed precision.
-
Time savings and increased flexibility: the
software can prepare the cutting program in a few seconds. Using a
die plate it is
possible to change the die very quickly. This fast configuration change
makes cost-effective even the cutting of small production batches, of a few
hundred parts.
-
Labour savings: the system allows high quality
cutting even with inexperienced operators. A single cnc cutting machine can
substitute 3-5 traditional trolley presses and their skilled operators.
-
Low operating costs: the special design, which
takes advantage of Atom patented solutions, grants high cutting power and
speed with limited power consumption. The special design allows to change the
cutting belts in a few hours without the intervention of specialised
external technicians. The quality of components reduces the maintenance
costs and minimises the maintenance time.
Quick cutting belt substitution
Despite the special device that avoid repeated cuttings on
the same point of the belt, even if the mechanical
stop with automatic
adjustment ensures a precision of penetration in the belt up of a few hundredth
of millimetre it is not possible to avoid the substitution of the belt.
Most cnc presses on the market uses open-ring belts, that
require special equipments to be installed, the intervention of specialised
technicians and from 24 to 48 hours machine stop. This implies the need to plan
the substitution job and of course it is a very expensive operation.
Atom cnc presses use closed-ring belts instead. Their design
allows to slip it off from one
machine side, without using special equipment, in a few hours and without the
intervention of external technicians. The closed-ring design ensures a
defects-free junction, which is very important because the smallest imprecision
can turn into considerable imprecision in material positioning, compromising the
precision of the cutting system.
The feeding systems.
One of the most important components of a cnc pres cutting
system is the material feeding. the systems commonly used are based upon a
polypropylene pad or an high-resitence nylon belt, which transports the material
and acts as support for the cutting.
Models adopting the cutting belt are for sure the most
versatile since they can transports any kind of material, both sheets and rolls
based, in single or multiple layers. Models using a cutting pad can be
used for sheets cutting only. The pad is surely the cheapest solution, since it
does not require high quality dies and the substitution cost is lower than the
cutting belt.
Automatic cut parts unloading:
When cutting rigid or semi-rigid materials it is possible to use our
automatic parts-unloading system. It is based upon a pneumatic ejector mounted
inside the trolley and a transport belt mounted on a side of the machine. At
regular interval the cut parts that naturally cumulates inside the forged die
are deposited on the belt.
Cut parts unloading from the cutting
belt:
The belt sticks out from the cutting area for more than 3 feet. This design
grants that cut parts are completely outside the cutting area when the operator
must collect them for higher safety, and operating speed, moreover the machine
can cut continuously since there is no need to stop it for unloading. This is
true independently from material hardness, thickness, layers and difficulty to
slide over surfaces.
The automatic nesting system
The machines are equipped with a powerful automatic nesting
system, able to calculate layouts in a few seconds without operator help.
Layouts are optimised taking into consideration both the cutting technology used
and the material kind.
Die digitising:
It is possible to digitise quickly and easily the dies in order to have
them ready for automatic nesting. The digitalisation solves any problem of die
centring and positioning on the support plate.
Cost estimation and web-based
nesting
The automatic nesting allows to optimise layouts and it is at
the same time an extremely useful tool for cost and cutting time estimation.
Besides traditional nesting systems supplied with the cutting machines Atom
proposes CUTWEB, a revolutionary web-based nesting service
To use CUTWEB there is no need to buy any license for the
nesting software (it is charged upon actual usage), it allows safe and simple
data sharing with customers, suppliers and subcontractors. You can find
here a complete presentation of Cutweb web-based automatic nesting service.
CNC cutting presses are grouped in two families: at two or
three controlled axis. Two-axis machines control trolley movement and material
positioning, three-axis machines control the rotation of the die plate as well.
This increased control allows cutting of parts with different orientation
improving thus material usage efficiency.
